Newsletter from Pastor Wambuanu - January 2010
Calvary greetings to you in Jesus name. I have prayed that all is well with you and your family. Please receive greetings from my wife and our children, Children at the Youth Centre and my staff. I have looked forward to writingthis end year report to give you a summary update of what the Lord has continued to do through your prayers and gifts. The year has been tough with so many challenges but the Lord has brought us this far and we call him Ebnezar. Below are the updates:
Youth Center:
We have continued to do well, We started with 268 children in the beginning of the year and 3 children dropped or transferred. Academically the children have continued to perform well compared to others schools around us. Their health has improved because of the feeding program that we offer at the center. Thank God for those who have continued to help us make a difference in the lives of these dear precious children, many have expressed their appreciation to the center including their parents. Next year we move one grade higher and so we will add 7th grade and the year after we will add the 8th grade.
Our staff has continued to do well in their duties to make sure that the children learn well and continue to perform well. We have had a challenge raising enough support to pay the their salaries/allowances but they have continued to do their job waiting upon the Lord to provide. This coming year we will have an additional two teachers who will help the children but this will put additional financial pressure on the center. I pray and kindly request individuals and churches to consider committing to support a teacher for a year at $150 per month for a year or as the Lord may lead.
Next year our enrollment will be 300 and over and so we will have to some tough adjustments and we must raise more funds to continue this great work in the slums of Korogocho. God has been gracious this year and by February we will see the completion of 14 modern classrooms that our children will be using. We are also trusting the Lord for a library and a computer lab. I would request that you consider to help get donations for used laptops and desk top comps and more especially the CPU's.
Baptist Chapel:
Baptist Chapel has grown and continued to grow numerically and also spiritually. We know in any growth there is always a challenge and we have continued to deal with those challenges. This year we focused mainly on the outside mission churches and church planting. Next year we will focus mainly in Discipleship with the church and the church community. As the church grows there been a growing need to extend our facility but the land that church owns has been fully utilized. We have now started a 5 year program to raise funds for the purchase of land and construction of Sunday School classes. We are grateful to Mission Link International when he visited us in September I shared with him the need and he said he will give a challenge for one piece land that we were buying. He said MLI will give a dollar for every dollar we give for one piece of land, the church worked so hard and we were able to raise enough funds for one piece of land with the help of Mission Link. In other words these were matching funds. The church intends to purchase 7 plots (pieces) of land which we will use for the extension and construction of a discipleship Center in Nairobi. We request your prayers as we pray and work to see this dream realized some day. We are also open to any volunteer groups that may be interested in coming to Kenya to work with our church and mission churches next year in the areas of Discipleship training, Evangelism, construction, VBS etc.
Mission Churches:
Our mission churches are doing well and growing though this year and part of last year we have been faced with the challenge of famine and drought which caused a mass migration of men that we had in church to move into major towns to find jobs to support their families. The new church plant is doing well, the growth is slow but sure.
Kamuwongo Real Life Church: We have been able to put a permanent building with the help of volunteers from USA, though the building is not finished we have a roof, where members are worshipping, there is some work that needs to be done finish the building and request that you pray for God to provide.
Kijawa Baptist: We thank God that Kijawa church now has a permanent building though not also finished we hope this work will be finished by early next year.
Malili Baptist: Not much has happened at Malili, the temporal church that we build couple year back is being eaten by termites and I am praying to God that we will be able to raise funds for bricks and Cement to at least do brick wall to stop termites from destroying the church.
Kyuso Church: The church needs land where we can at least construct a semi permanent building, Currently we have to raise funds to pay for the hall they are using. I started by paying quarterly is September and next payment will be due Jan 1st. Please pray for God provision.
We thank God for you all, those who brought teams to work at our Center and Church we appreciate your sacrifice and the risk that you took. We sincerely thank many of you who even during these hard economic times you have continued to give to our ministry, your small and big gifts have been used by the Lord to make a real difference in the lives of many in Africa.
Finally I want to thank you for emails, card messages and prayers that you offered to us after the passing on of our father. We thank you for the tremendous prayer support. Also for those who gave to help with my motor (Engine) for my car. The car is doing well now but my mechanic recommends that if the Lord make it possible I need a better car to help in my movements to the mission churches and other visits that I make.
Wishing you a Blessed 2010.
Blessings and Love to you all,
Euticauls
