Opportunities
EquipKenya is involved with numerous projects throughout the various ministries that we support, ranging from acquiring land and drilling wells to providing Bibles and advanced education for the leaders of the various ministries. The following is a list of current projects by ministry. Come, partner with us and help proclaim the good news of the Gospel of Jesus and show His love for these precious people!
Take the Challenge and Keep the Ministry Moving!
We have a matching donor challenge. An anonymous donor will match up to $7,000 toward the purchase of a van. This van will be utilized to reach church plants and mission churches and provide transportation for small mission groups. Pastor Wambua's current vehicle is unreliable at best with dollars being poured into repairs. We need your help. Let's fulfill Galatians 6:2 and "bear one another's burdens and thereby fulfill the law of Christ." It's easy, just click DONATE now and take part in spreading the gospel in Kenya.
Malili Well Project
The village of Malili is located at the Itivanzou sub-location, Kamuwongo division of the Kyuso District. This village, like the entire district, falls in a climatic region classified by the Kenyan government as an Arid/Semi-Arid area. Drought and famine are common in this area, usually occurring every other year. The population is over 6,000. Most people in the area farm and raise livestock to sustain their families. This year alone over 80% of the cattle in the area have died as a result of the drought. The lack of available water has contributed greatly to the impoverishment of the community.
The village depends on rain for all of their farming ventures. The nearest reliable water source is more than 6 kilometers (3.73 miles) from the village. The other sources of water utilized by the community include one seasonal stream (dependent on rain fall) and open wells, which are dug in the riverbed. These open wells are subject to many problems. They repeatedly collapse, and are also a source of contamination from human beings, domestic and wild animals. Prevalence of water-borne disease and childhood mortality is high in the area as well. The majority of children are unable to focus on education, as they spend a great deal of time searching for water. In the community there is a water duty roster and the children must take turns missing school to search for water. Despite the great need for a stable water source, the people cannot afford to support this well project on their own. The cost for this project is approximately $25,000.

Our biggest need is for partners to support us in prayer. We know that without that, all of our ministry is futile!

Training
Sponsor a Precept Study
We are working with Precept Ministries International to begin training leaders in the Inductive Bible Study Method. Churches, Bible study groups or individuals can sponsor a precept study in Kenya. Please contact us for more information.
Computer Lab - The Kariobangi Youth Center
We would like to start teaching the children how to use a computer and the Microsoft Office software. Computers as well as software are needed for this project. Please contact us for more information.
Self Sufficiency Projects
Farmland
Buying food for the feeding center currently costs about $1,200 per month. We would like to lease 10 acres of farmland in Western Kenya to raise crops to use at the feeding center. This should produce a minimum of 9-12 months worth of food. To lease the land and plant the crops would cost around $2,000. If you or your church would like to sponsor this project please contact us.
Irrigation System
Once the well project is complete in Malili we will need to put in an irrigation system on a portion of the 15 acres just purchased adjacent to the well site. This will be used for planting in the future to eliminate the need for leasing farmland to grow crops for the feeding center.
Infirmary
We would like to build an infirmary in Malili close to the well site. There is currently no medical care in the area and people must travel great distances for care.
Construction
Permanent School Building
The Kariobangi Youth Center will need an additional 3-4 story school building to be able to accommodate the students added each year. The school currently adds one grade per year and the building will be necessary for the school to provide education through the high school grades. Please contact us for more information or to donate towards this project.
Homes
There is a dire need in the Korogocho slum to replace the current housing. We would like to partner with Rev. Wambua's church and to start replacing houses, currently made of tin, cardboard and wood, with houses made of a steel structure and stone walls. Each 15' x 8' home will cost approximately $2,500. This is a great project for churches or even Sunday school classes or Bible study groups, please contact us if you would like to sponsor a new home in Korogocho.
Stone Fencing
There is a need for a stone fence around the youth center. This type of fencing common as a security measure in Kenya would help to keep out any ill intentioned people, as theft can be a problem in this area. The fence would cost approximately $5,000. Please contact us for more information about this project.
